As a community changemaker, I created , and co-founded Making Change - a non-profit organization focused on awareness, education and exposure to Black people, Black culture and anti-Black racism; and I contribute monthly to Simcoe.com with a Diversity and Inclusion column. I'm also on the Board of the Barrie Community Foundation. In 2020, I was recognized as one of 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women. and a Peace Champion by the YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka.
“It’s important to feel included in your community and connected with other like-minded people. Meeting other Black women through this project has given me the opportunity to reflect on my life and to understand myself better.”
“My project has become a platform to share our views on the Black experience, Black History Month, success, and community togetherness. It is my hope to encourage our communities to be intentionally more inclusive of their increasingly diverse and racialized populations.”
